The first publication Criminal Laws in the South Pacific by Professor Mark Findlay, then Acting Head and Foundation Law Professor at the School of Law of the University of the South Pacific, was published in November 1996.

The book examines principles of crime and justice, and sets out the basic elements of criminal liability, participation in crime and specific offences against the person, property and the state. Defences are also considered. The book concludes with a substantial section on criminal procedure. the focus of the text is on the laws and procedures of the South Pacific jurisdictions served by USP, but incorporates appropriate material from other countries. The book is an essential guide to the criminal laws of the region for both students and practitioners.
