Minuets of the 9th VLA Monthly General
meeting
Minuets were taken by Pauline Kalo, and
commenced at
Members present at the meeting were:
Peter Murgatroyd, Margaret Austrai-Kailo, Linda Bakakoto, Pauline Kalo (USP Library), Gina Mayeu, Sani Jibe (VIT Library), Suzanne Meltemal (Peace Corps), Terri Maher (Parliament Library), Florida Nixon (Public Works), Anne Naupa (Nasonal Laebri), Suzanne Andrew (Tebakor Library), Betina (Vila North)

Matters arising from the agenda :

2. Opening prayer
Margaret opened the meeting with a word of prayer.
3. Apologies
Members who could not make it to the meeting but gave their apologies were:
Rachel Kara, Louisa Alick, Sylvie Tapasei, George Wilbur, Touman Moise, June Norman
4. Approval of last
meeting’s minuets
Time was given to members to read through minuets of the 8th VLA General meeting, Margaret moved that the minuets were correct and Linda seconded it.
5. Final arrangements for
VLA closing meeting & party in November
Gina said that the school had agreed for
VLA to have the closing meeting and party in front of her Library on Wednesday
22nd November at
Anne said that they executive decided that Vt 15,000 will be used to buy things for the closing function and she has given this to Margaret who is responsible for organising the food.
Margaret said that she has made out a list of things and written notes of what each member can contribute to the kaikai so that they is a variety of food and everybody does not turn up with the same thing. Pauline passed out the notes to members. She said VLA will use the money to buy :
16 Litres of Ice Cream
5kg of rice
1 carton of Chicken wings
Members can also bring their family along to the closing function which will also be Peter’s farewell party.
Pauline mentioned that before the function, VLA will have its last AGM for the year 2006 and elect new office bearers for next year.
Peter suggested that before elections in November, members should start thinking about who they want on the executive next year and they should talk to them and if they are alright with it then they can forward any confirmed nominations to Pauline by email before the meeting in November. Places on the executive are for:

a. Literacy
Day
Margaret said that it was discussed in the last AGM that two members should volunteer to work with Sylvie in the Literacy Day Committee next year. People to volunteer to work with Sylvie were:
1. Pauline Kalo
2. June Norman
Anne said that if VLA executive for next year look into planning 3 events throughout the year. That is Library week maybe in the first school holidays, Literacy Day in September and another event.
